This place is enormous
In the months since we announced our purchase of the Missile Master building in Collier excitement has only grown, both for us and for the fans of Grist House.
At least once a week someone asks when the new building will be open, and as much as we wish we could give you a date, this project is so massive, and so unpredictable, that giving a firm timeline is simply not possible. We can, however, give you an update on our progress!
It’s difficult to express just how enormous this project is: 55,000 square feet, 3-foot walls, miles and miles of cord and cable that needed to be pulled from walls, floors, and ceilings, not to mention all of the ductwork that needed to be removed. This building is a massive undertaking, and just like you, we can’t wait until we get to brew here!

You are looking at the future location of our Collier taproom! The black wall in the “AFTER” photos faces out over rolling hills, with a view of downtown Pittsburgh off in the distance.
Cutting through the massive, 3 foot thick exterior walls will be a mammoth undertaking, but we cannot let the incredible view this building offers go to waste.

The drop ceilings have been completely removed, resulting in a mildly terrifying lighting situation in many of the hallways. We are happy to report that despite the slightly creepy vibe at the moment, we have yet to encounter a haunting of any kind. That being said, no one has volunteered to stay the night…
The safe is still here and still unopened! As a matter of fact, the safe is staying. This massive rectangle of metal and concrete just isn’t going to budge. Hopefully we get it open before the brewery does!
Finally, we wanted to leave you with a look at the future entrance of Grist House Collier!
This project has been a whirlwind so far, and though we have a long way to go, we have made a huge dent in the work that needs to be done. In lieu of a timeline, we will continue to give updates on our progress, so you can be here with us every step of the way!
